Pics from New Hampshire Leadership

David Wetherow once said, “We taught families to face the service system, all the while they had their backs to the community.” His words rang true with me and I think they ring true with many of us who have invested so much of our lives in advocacy at a systems or compliance level. In the process of trying to create more and better services, it’s easy to forget about community. Turning around to face the rich possibilities of  community, requires something different than traditional advocacy. It is no longer about power or laws or policy.  “Turning” takes a new awareness of community and a rediscovering of the ways in which we – through our beliefs, awareness and actions -  can contribute to the creation of community.

Storytelling and art making can help us turn and that was the central focus of our February 13th workshop with New Hampshire Leadership. These pics from our workshop illustrate the stories that were told and our growing awareness. Please support Leadership Development by making a tax deductible donation.
